Learn sheet music – staff

The staff is the main part of every sheet music page. Without it a song cannot exists. Usually in a song you'll find multiple staves but they will all have something in common: they are usually composed of 5 horizontal lines with a key at the beginning.

We will talk about keys later, but why have I said usually? ... Well, sometimes you can find 6 lines when you are watching a guitar sheet music, but this method is not very common nowadays and everyone tend to use the 5 lines version for every musical instrument (aside from percussion staff which only has 1 line).

When talking about how is composed the staff, we must mention both the lines and the spaces between the lines because musical notes lay on both the lines and in the spaces.

How do we know the height of musical notes on the staff?
We must start to count from the bottom.
The last line on the bottom is First line, the above is Second and so on.

The same goes for the spacing between the lines
